eFiction is not a literary journal. It is a magazine that presents guilty pleasure fiction of all genres. We publish stories from previously published and unpublished authors alike, but we prefer to publish new authors who are unrepresented and do not have current publishing deals with big publishers. To better your chances of acceptance, here are some simple guidelines that reach across all genres:
Formatting
Formatting isn’t make-or-break, but it does put your manuscript ahead of every poorly formated piece when we first open it. The perfect submission has:
- Name, email address, and other contact info in the top left
- Word count in the top right
- A standard serif font in about 12 point
- Single spaced
- Must be .RTF, .DOC, .DOCX format
That's it.
Participation
We will be much more likely to accept a submission from authors who post in the workshop, comment on the blog, offer to guest post, tweet with us, are a fan on Facebook, and otherwise are apart of all things eFiction. These are the people that we want in our community. People that believe in eFiction. Though participation is by no means a requirement.
Rights
We only want rights to your work for one publication in the magazine. That's it. You keep the rights to your work to go on and use again in the future. Or if your work has been published before that's fine too, as long as you hold the rights at time of publication.
Themes
We alternate themed issues with open genre issues. If you don't see your genre, you can submit anyway and your work could be featured in an open theme issue. Or petition the editorial staff to get your genre/theme its own issue.
